New orders for illegal construction on Government land in Bengal
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her "heartfelt greetings" to the women of Sandeshkhali during her first visit since the region witnessed violence. The CM avoided directly mentioning past incidents, focusing instead on fostering progress and unity in the community.
Addressing the gathering, Mamata Banerjee said, “I want the children of Sandeshkhali to excel and conquer the world. Everyone should live together harmoniously. Avoid the influence of mischievous elements, and women should not leave home if called by strangers.” She emphasized the importance of collective growth and urged people not to pay bribes for government projects, asserting, “Your money, your right. We don’t need money for our projects.”
The Chief Minister announced a series of development projects for the region, including increasing the beds at Sandeshkhali Rural Hospital from 30 to 60. She also revealed plans to create a new subdivision in North 24 Parganas to bring services closer to the residents.
In her speech, Mamata Banerjee expressed a desire to make Sandeshkhali a regional hub, akin to Burdwan’s Langcha Hub, and inquired about the origin of Sandeshkhali’s name. Additionally, she announced that Kolkata’s historic Star Theatre would be renamed after Binodini in the coming year.
Highlighting the state’s commitment to development, the CM inaugurated 66 projects in Sandeshkhali on Monday, worth ₹123 crore. She also laid the foundation stones for several new initiatives, promising a brighter future for the region.
