Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
A significant fire broke out early on Saturday morning at a tailor’s shop near the Kulpi bus stand along National Highway 117 in Diamond Harbour. The blaze, which originated from a short circuit, rapidly spread due to the presence of highly flammable materials stored in the shop. The fire affected not only the shop but also several nearby businesses, causing extensive damage.
Upon receiving the alert, fire services responded quickly, dispatching four fire engines and four engineers to the scene. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the fire under control, but by the time they managed to contain it, several shops in the vicinity had been severely damaged. The incident led to a temporary disruption in the area, with smoke and debris spreading across the nearby roads. Local police from Kulpi station arrived at the site to manage crowd control and assist in securing the area.
The affected shop belonged to Mahabur Rahman Molla, a tailor who had operated in the area for many years. Molla’s shop was known for taking orders from various companies for tailoring work. The exact extent of the damage to his shop and the surrounding businesses is still being assessed, with initial reports suggesting significant losses. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire and to evaluate the potential risks of similar incidents in the area.
