The Bishnupur-Tarakeshwar railway line project has achieved a key milestone with the successful completion of a Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection, followed by a test run of the train from Moynapur to Boro Gopinathpur. The new section of the railway line, extending from Moynapur to Boro Gopinathpur, is now fully equipped with laid tracks. The CRS inspection, a critical step for ensuring the safety and readiness of the infrastructure, was completed successfully, paving the way for future regular train services. The test run conducted on Friday confirmed that the tracks meet all operational safety standards.
The Bishnupur-Tarakeshwar railway line project had been delayed for several years due to a land dispute at Bhaddadighi, which led to significant setbacks. After the resolution of the land issue, work on the project resumed, and the railway tracks were quickly laid up to Boro Gopinathpur. This completion marks an important phase in the project, as the stretch from Moynapur to Boro Gopinathpur is now fully operational for test runs. Following the success of the test, officials have indicated that regular train services could begin soon.
The project also faced disruptions from local protests, particularly from residents of Hetal village in the Kotulpur block of Bankura. These protests were related to land acquisition and other local concerns, but the issues have since been resolved, allowing construction to proceed without further hindrance. With the track now laid and test operations completed, the railway line is expected to significantly enhance transportation between Bishnupur and Tarakeshwar. Regular train services will improve accessibility, support local economies, and ease commuting for residents.
