On Thursday morning, metro services on the North-South corridor faced disruptions after a Kavi Subhash-bound metro train encountered a technical malfunction at Belgachia station at 8:46 AM. The train stopped at Girish Park station, where passengers were asked to evacuate. The malfunctioning rake was sent empty to Kavi Subhash for repairs.
As a result, metro services between Dum Dum and Girish Park were suspended temporarily. Trains operated only between Dum Dum and Dakshineswar and between Girish Park and Kavi Subhash during the disruption. Commuters on the affected stretch faced delays, with operations returning to normal at 9:15 AM after repairs were completed.
This disruption follows a similar incident on December 22 when a technical fault at Park Street station caused a train to halt, affecting services at Esplanade and Maidan stations during peak hours. Both incidents involved swift action from maintenance teams to restore services and minimize delays for commuters.
