Railway cancels several trains in Sealdah division on December 28-29
In a significant operation ahead of the Christmas season, Kolkata Police have arrested two individuals and seized a large quantity of illegal drugs, including cocaine. The arrests were made by the Kolkata Police’s Narcotics Cell after conducting multiple raids based on confidential information. The raids targeted locations suspected of distributing illegal substances, particularly during the holiday season when demand for recreational drugs tends to rise.
Parvez Ali, a resident of Panchsayer, was arrested from an 11th-floor flat in a building where a substantial amount of illegal drugs, including cocaine, were discovered. Ali was charged with possession and trafficking of these banned substances. Later, police raided a house near the Survey Park area along the EM Bypass and arrested Prosanjit Roy, alias Arghya, from Liluah. Roy was found with various illegal drugs, and these were also confiscated by the police.
Both arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activities in Kolkata. Police have seized a variety of narcotics, and it is believed that the drugs were being distributed across the city, including in areas like hotels, restaurants, and rave parties, which are popular among the youth during the festive season. The authorities are closely monitoring these locations to curb the circulation of illegal substances.
The Kolkata Police are continuing their investigation into the origin of the drugs and how they are being trafficked into the city. During interrogations, the suspects revealed that college students had requested the drugs, though they were unable to provide further details on the buyers. Authorities are working to identify any larger drug syndicates operating in the city and plan to conduct additional raids to prevent further distribution of illegal drugs during the holiday period.
