Drunk bikers assault bus driver, vandalize vehicle in East Midnapore

A violent incident took place near Heria Hospital on the Digha-Nandakumar National Highway in East Midnapore when a group of bikers attacked a government bus driver after a road dispute. The incident occurred when the bus, which was traveling on the Digha-Nandigram route, attempted to overtake the bikers. The bus driver signaled with his indicator to pass, but the bikers reportedly did not give way. This led to a confrontation between the bus driver and the bikers.

The altercation escalated when the bikers, reportedly in an intoxicated state, dragged the bus driver out of the vehicle and physically assaulted him. The bikers also vandalized the bus, breaking its windows. The driver sustained severe facial injuries in the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Passengers aboard the bus confirmed the bikers' aggressive behavior and noted their apparent drunken condition.

Local police responded quickly to the incident and detained the bikers involved. The police are investigating the incident, focusing on the bikers' alleged intoxication, the vandalism of the bus, and the physical assault on the driver. The police have also noted that the bikers used the name of the police while carrying out the vandalism.

The injured bus driver, identified as Uttam Bangal, provided a statement describing the events. He explained that five to six bikes overtook his bus at high speed. He feared a potential accident and decided to stop the bus. Despite this, the bikers reportedly dragged him out of the vehicle, broke the windows, and physically attacked him. Police are continuing their investigation to determine all the facts surrounding the incident.
