Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
Pratip Kumar Manna, a 21-year-old engineering student of Jadavpur University, was found dead in his rented accommodation on B.M. Mondal Road in Kolkata’s Survey Park area on Thursday evening. Pratip, originally from Tamluk in East Midnapore, was a third-year student of Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering.
According to his roommate, Arka Maity, Pratip started feeling unwell around 7 PM and requested him to buy medicine. When Arka returned around 8 PM, he found Pratip lying unconscious in the room. He immediately took him to a local nursing home, where doctors referred them to KPC Medical College. Upon arrival at the hospital, Pratip was declared dead by the attending doctors.
Survey Park police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials stated that no external injuries were found on the body, and it has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Statements are being recorded from the roommate and others who might have been in contact with Pratip before his death.
Pratip was staying in a rented house rather than the university hostel. Police are examining his personal belongings, medical history, and other relevant details as part of the inquiry. The post-mortem and forensic reports are awaited to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding his death.
