Chunchura MLA Asit Majumdar embarked on a public relations tour to address concerns about the ruling party's performance following the Lok Sabha elections in the Chunchura assembly constituency. During his visit to Devanandpur Gram Panchayat, the MLA suffered an injury when he accidentally stepped on a damaged slab covering a drain.
While listening to complaints regarding water and sewage issues in the area, Majumdar's right foot fell through a broken slab, leading to pain in his left leg. Party leaders and workers promptly attended to him. Despite the incident, the MLA continued to interact with locals and assured them of swift action.
“This incident happened while I was listening to the grievances of people in various areas under Devanandpur Gram Panchayat. I have directed the immediate repair of broken slabs on drains to prevent further accidents,” Majumdar stated.
The incident shed light on the unsafe infrastructure in the area, an issue residents face daily. BJP organizational district general secretary Suresh Saw expressed his concerns over the matter. “We wish for the MLA’s speedy recovery. This unfortunate incident highlights the struggles common people endure regularly due to neglected civic infrastructure. We hope this will lead to lasting improvements,” Saw remarked. Following the mishap, Majumdar instructed local authorities to expedite the repair of broken slabs across the constituency, emphasizing the importance of ensuring public safety.
