New orders for illegal construction on Government land in Bengal
Anubrata Mondal, the district president of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Birbhum, attended a crucial core committee meeting in the district, where his behavior was notably subdued compared to his usual assertive leadership style. This meeting marked the first major TMC gathering since Mondal's return from Tihar Jail. At the meeting, Mondal confirmed that the decisions made by the core committee would be final, signaling his acceptance of collective party decisions. His participation in the meeting was limited, with no substantial input from him during the discussions.
Mondal, who has been known for his dominant role in party affairs, made a brief statement during the meeting, declaring that Ashish Banerjee, a senior leader of the district, would conduct the proceedings. Mondal refrained from elaborating on the agenda or actively participating in the decision-making process. This calm and reserved approach marked a significant departure from his usual hands-on style, where he would typically have a more vocal presence in discussions.
The core committee meeting centered on various decisions for the upcoming period. A major point of discussion was the scheduling of party programs, which will be held from January 1 to January 30. It was also decided that the district committee meeting would take place on January 29. The focus of the meeting was on ensuring party unity and the execution of the party’s planned activities. Mondal, despite his minimal involvement, reiterated that he would follow the decisions made by the core committee.
During the meeting, local issues within the party were also raised. MLA Bikash Roychowdhury raised concerns regarding a separate meeting held by party leader Kajol Sheikh in Suri. Roychowdhury mentioned that he had not been informed about this meeting, which created some tension. However, Kajol Sheikh responded by confirming that the core committee had approved the event, and he assured that all actions were in line with the committee's direction. Sheikh emphasized that the focus would remain on executing the party's agenda in the upcoming months.
Further discussions in the meeting addressed internal party matters, including concerns regarding interference in teacher organizations. Allegations were raised against Pralay Nayek, with reports suggesting he was involved in the activities of teacher unions. These complaints were brought up during the meeting and discussed in depth as part of the ongoing efforts to resolve internal issues and maintain the unity of the party.
