Unlicensed cancer, diabetes medicine worth 6.6 crores seized in Kolkata
On Friday night, December 13, a fan of Telugu actor Allu Arjun attempted to self-immolate outside Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad. The fan, visibly upset over the delay in the actor's release, poured petrol on himself in an attempt to protest his imprisonment. The incident occurred hours after Allu Arjun was granted bail by the Telangana High Court in connection with a tragic incident during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, where a 35-year-old woman died due to a medical emergency.
Despite the court granting Allu Arjun bail on December 13, the actor was unable to leave jail that evening because of delays in the necessary paperwork. The fan, frustrated by this delay, made the desperate move to self-immolate. Police quickly intervened, preventing the situation from escalating and taking the fan into custody. A video of the incident surfaced on social media, but its authenticity could not be verified.
Allu Arjun had been arrested on December 4 following the incident at Sandhya Theatre, where large crowds gathered for the premiere of Pushpa 2. According to reports, the woman collapsed and died during the screening, allegedly due to a heart attack triggered by the overwhelming crowd and chaos. The incident resulted in public outcry and an investigation by the authorities. Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the event, but the bail was granted after the court found no direct link between the actor and the woman’s death.
After spending a night in jail, Allu Arjun was released on December 14, after posting a personal bond of Rs 50,000. Upon his release, he returned to his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. In his statement, Allu Arjun thanked his fans and supporters, saying, “I thank everyone for the love and support. I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate. I would like to once again express my condolences to the family. It was an unfortunate incident.”
The actor also reiterated that the incident was tragic but unintentional, stressing that he had provided full support to the deceased woman's family. He reassured his fans that there was no reason to worry, and the situation was under control. At this time, there has been no official comment from the police or Allu Arjun regarding the fan’s suicide attempt.
