Many locals cancelled in Howrah division till Monday; Express trains' route altered | See List

Train services in the Howrah Division will be extensively disrupted for three days, from Saturday (December 14) to Monday (December 16), due to non-interlocking maintenance work at Janai Road. Eastern Railway has announced that several local trains will be canceled, and multiple long-distance trains' routes will be diverted during this period.

According to an official statement issued by Eastern Railway, this essential maintenance work is being conducted to improve passenger services in the future. While it enhances infrastructure, the work will significantly affect daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

Multiple local trains on the Howrah Division’s up and down chord lines will be canceled on Saturday and Sunday. This includes three pairs of Howrah-Burdwan, two pairs of Howrah-Masagram, two pairs of Howrah-Chandannagar, and one pair each of Howrah-Gudap and Howrah-Baruipara locals. Similarly, one pair of Sealdah-Baruipara locals will also not run.

Long-distance train routes will also be altered during the maintenance. On Saturday, several key trains, including the Kolkata-Haldibari Superfast, Kolkata-Amritsar, Kolkata-Ahmedabad, Kolkata-Patna Garib Rath, and Kolkata-Sitamarhi Express, will operate via the Naihati Link Cabin-Bandel-Burdwan route. On Sunday, the Kolkata-Balurghat and Kolkata-Ghazipur Express will follow the same diversion.

Routes of trains like Sealdah-Alipurduar Padatik Express and Sealdah-Ajmer Express are also impacted. Additional long-distance trains such as the Jammu Tawi-Howrah Express, Dehradun-Howrah Kumbh Express, and Mumbai-Howrah Mail will run via the Burdwan-Bandel route. On Monday, disruptions will continue with three pairs of local trains being canceled on both the up and down chord lines. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedule and routes before planning their journeys.
