Man arrested within 24 hours after woman's severed head found in Golf Green

On Friday, Kolkata’s Golf Green area became the site of a gruesome discovery when a severed head of a woman was found in a garbage vat. The head, still covered with fresh blood, was spotted by sanitation workers who promptly alerted the police. The authorities responded immediately, setting up a special investigation team to probe the incident. Within 24 hours of the discovery, the police successfully identified the victim and arrested a suspect in connection with the crime.

The arrested individual, Atikur, hails from Baskbanga Panchgram in South 24 Parganas. According to police sources, evidence gathered from CCTV footage and tower location data placed Atikur in the vicinity of the Golf Green area at the time the severed head was discovered. The authorities used this information to track his movements and apprehend him quickly after the incident.

The victim has been identified as Khadija Bibi, a resident of Murgachha Kalitala Parul village in South 24 Parganas. Khadija was married in Radhanagar, Magrahat, which is also Atikur’s area of origin. The police are focusing on the relationship between Atikur and Khadija, including any connections to her family and the circumstances that led to the crime.

Although the severed head was found behind the Golf Club, the rest of Khadija’s body has not yet been located. The police are continuing their search for the body, which remains a key aspect of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are expanding their search efforts to find the missing body parts and gather additional evidence that may assist in solving the case.

Atikur is currently being interrogated by the police, who are trying to establish the motive behind the brutal crime. The investigation is centered on collecting further evidence and clarifying the events that led to the murder. Police are also working in coordination with other local police districts to gather more information and explore all potential leads related to the case.
