Arabul Islam, a key political figure in Bhangar, has been forced to work from the streets after losing access to his office at the Bhangar II Panchayat. For over 12 years, Arabul had used the room at the Panchayat office for his political and administrative work, but recently, he was informed that he could no longer occupy the space. Following this, he set up a chair and table outside the Panchayat office on Thursday, where he began providing services to the public under the open sky, drawing attention to his changed circumstances.
Prior to moving outdoors, Arabul had been working from the office of the BDO after he was barred from his regular workspace. However, the shift to working on the street was seen as a public demonstration of his political resilience. Arabul’s decision to continue his work outside rather than resigning to the loss of office space highlights his determination to stay involved in public service, despite the change in environment.
Shoukat Mollah, the former MLA of Canning Purba and a rival of Arabul, quickly reacted to the situation, dismissing Arabul’s actions as “drama.” Mollah accused Arabul of orchestrating the scene with the help of his supporters. He claimed that Arabul’s team was involved in signing papers and posting them on social media, accusing them of seeking sympathy through this staged act. Mollah’s critique is part of the ongoing rivalry between the two leaders, which has been marked by frequent disagreements within the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
In addition to criticizing Arabul’s actions, Mollah reaffirmed his political position, stating that both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee were fully aligned with him in Bhangar. He emphasized that the leadership in Kolkata would continue to support the region in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Mollah also underscored that the TMC would fight the elections with full strength in Bhangar, maintaining that he had the backing of the top party leadership.
The developments in Bhangar come at a time when the TMC is preparing for upcoming electoral challenges. The loss of office space for Arabul and the subsequent public actions have further deepened the rift between him and Mollah. The political tension in the area continues to grow as both leaders vie for dominance within the local TMC. The outcome of this rivalry will likely influence the political landscape in Bhangar as the region heads toward critical elections, with both leaders positioning themselves for future influence.
