Kolkata metro to be extended till Hooghly's Chuchura? Here's what Railway minister says
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) launched a demolition drive in Jorabagan, targeting illegal constructions on a section of Rabindra Sarani in Ward No. 26. The operation saw the removal of structures built on public roads, including cement bases and areas where trees had been planted.
Residents of the area, some of whom claim to have lived there for over a century, expressed anger and despair over the action. They argued that the demolitions would leave them homeless. "We have been living here for 100 to 150 years. Where will we go if our houses are demolished?" said one of the affected locals.
