Thailand announces e-visa for Indians from Jan 1, 60-day exemption to continue
The Kolkata Metro authorities have decided to postpone the proposed fare hike for the last metro trains of the night, which was scheduled to take effect on Tuesday, December 10. The announcement brought relief to passengers as the decision to charge an additional Rs. 10 for the last metro has been deferred due to technical reasons.
Initially, the Metro had planned to charge higher fares for the special night metros running from Kabi Subhash to Dum Dum at 10:40 pm in both directions. The fare increase was aimed at offsetting the lower number of passengers during these late hours. However, passengers traveling on Tuesday evening were informed that the usual fare would continue for now.
A Metro official clarified, “The additional charge for the last metro has been postponed for technical reasons. For the time being, the fare remains unchanged, but the hike may be implemented in the near future.”
The special night metro service was introduced to cater to late-night commuters. However, due to the comparatively low passenger turnout, authorities decided on a fare adjustment, which has now been put on hold.
