Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted two separate raids in West Bengal on Tuesday, targeting individuals allegedly involved in illegal activities. The first raid took place in the Laskar Dighi area of Bardhaman at the residence of Hasan Ali, a local tailor. Ali, a long-time resident and owner of a tailoring shop, was reportedly not known to be linked to any criminal activity prior to the raid. Early in the morning, ED officials arrived in large vehicles, searched his home, and reportedly began examining documents and materials inside. The specific reasons for the raid have not been disclosed, nor have any charges been confirmed.
At the same time, ED officials carried out a search at the home of Jalil Molla, an online vendor based in the Chakburalir Madhya Para area of Bhangar, South 24 Parganas. Molla, who allegedly operated a fake call center, is being investigated for his involvement in fraudulent activities. Sources have indicated that Molla's online operations were suspected to be part of a larger network of deceptive practices. However, details regarding the call center's scope, operations, and how it was run remain undisclosed. The ED's raid appears to focus on these activities, with no official statement on the full extent of the alleged fraud.
Both raids involved heavy security, with central forces deployed outside the premises to maintain order. At Hasan Ali's house in Bardhaman, a large crowd of curious onlookers gathered, speculating about the nature of the investigation. Similarly, in Bhangar, security forces were stationed as the search at Molla's residence took place. The searches were conducted without any reports of disruption, and both locations remained under tight surveillance during the operations.
No arrests have been made as of yet in either case, and the ED has not confirmed any formal charges against either individual. The investigations into Hasan Ali and Jalil Molla are ongoing, and authorities have not yet provided additional details about the nature or scale of the operations under scrutiny. As the inquiries continue, further updates are expected, but no timeline for resolution has been given.
