The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is reviewing 900 hours of CCTV footage as part of its investigation into the Abhaya rape and murder case. The footage includes 24-hour recordings from eight CCTV cameras installed after the incident, along with recordings from additional cameras covering the area throughout the day. Forensic analysis has been conducted on the footage to verify its authenticity and identify any relevant evidence that could assist the investigation.
The CBI has raised concerns regarding potential evidence tampering in the case, stating that the digital evidence could provide crucial insights. The extensive review of 900 hours of footage is seen as a critical step in ensuring that all available evidence is thoroughly examined. The footage may provide new leads or confirm existing information regarding the events surrounding the crime.
Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal, the two arrested suspects, are currently in judicial custody for four days. Earlier, the CBI had filed a charge sheet in the RG Kar Medical College incident, naming Ghosh and four other individuals. The charge sheet, which spans 125 pages, was accompanied by 500 pages of supporting documents. The investigation into the Abhaya case continues, with the CBI focusing on gathering and analyzing digital evidence as a key part of its ongoing work.
