Thailand announces e-visa for Indians from Jan 1, 60-day exemption to continue
Ola and Uber drivers and owners in Kolkata organized a protest today, marching from Science City Junction to Mango Lane Transport Office. The protest focused on several demands, including a fare hike due to rising fuel and maintenance costs. The drivers also called for the removal of penalty guidelines for vehicles that break down on flyovers, arguing that such penalties impose financial strain.
Additionally, the protestors demanded that bikes with white number plates operating under Ola and Uber be blocked, as these bikes are not compliant with regulations for passenger transport. They also called for an end to police harassment, which they claim has been increasing, and the elimination of broker activities in station areas. The protestors are also seeking the removal of parking fines, which they argue are unfair. A separate protest rally with 300-400 cars took place from Science City Turn to Moulali, emphasizing the scale of the concerns.
