SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A fatal bike accident resulted in the death of Tapan Mall, a Trinamool Congress worker, near Moula village in Bankura district. The accident occurred while Mall and two other workers were returning home on a single bike after participating in a victory procession. The procession was held in celebration of Trinamool Congress’s recent victory in the Taldaungra by-election. The bike, carrying all three men, lost control and crashed into a roadside culvert.
The accident took place on the evening of December 8, 2024, when Mall and the two other workers, all from Chandkuri village, were heading back to their homes following the victory rally in the Hardmasra area. Police were alerted to the incident and responded promptly, rescuing the injured individuals and transporting them to a nearby rural hospital. Tapan Mall was declared dead by medical staff upon arrival, while the two other victims, both critically injured, were referred to Bankura Sammilani Medical College for further treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The police are examining whether excessive speed or the road conditions played a role in the crash. The identities of the two injured workers have not been released. As of now, their condition remains critical. Local officials have assured that the investigation will determine the exact cause of the incident.
