A 15-year-old girl was allegedly held captive and raped for three days in the Belrampur area of Murshidabad, leading to the arrest of four individuals. The incident, which came to light after a formal complaint was lodged by the victim’s family, has resulted in the arrest of a young man, his wife, their 15-year-old daughter, and a 55-year-old woman. The police arrested the four individuals after the complaint was filed and they have been charged with multiple offenses, including kidnapping, rape, and violations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police, the young man is accused of repeatedly raping the minor girl during the period she was held captive, while the three women allegedly assisted in keeping her confined. The victim’s family has directly implicated the suspects in the crime. After the arrests, the accused were produced before a district court on Saturday, where a 14-day judicial remand was ordered. The investigation is ongoing as the police work to determine the full extent of the involvement of each individual.
Police sources indicated that further questioning of the suspects is underway to gather more information regarding the details of the crime. Authorities are also investigating whether there was any involvement in human trafficking or any other organized criminal activity linked to the incident. In a separate case in Murshidabad's Baranagar area, a five-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a young man. The child was found in a nearby jungle and rescued by the police. The accused in the case has been arrested, and charges under the POCSO Act have been filed. Both cases are being closely investigated.
