The police have opened an investigation and confirmed that the accused has been charged with rape and offenses under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The accused, a young man from the village, is now in police custody. As part of the ongoing investigation, police have conducted interviews and gathered evidence related to the crime. Authorities have assured that all necessary legal measures will be taken.
This incident follows a similar case earlier in the region, where a 9th-grade student was raped and murdered in Joynagar, leading to a death sentence for the accused. In a separate development in Baharampur, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the repeated rape of a minor girl, who was reportedly held captive for three days. Police have stated that all individuals involved in the crime will be prosecuted.
