On Friday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren of Jharkhand allocated portfolios to the newly appointed ministers in his government following a cabinet reshuffle. The Chief Minister retained several key departments under his direct control, including Personnel, Administrative Reforms, Official Language, Home (which includes Prisons), Cabinet Secretariat, Vigilance Department, Public Works Department, and Building Construction Department. These portfolios are considered vital for governance, administrative functions, infrastructure development, and law and order management in the state.
Radhakrishna Kishore, a Congress MLA, was assigned the Finance portfolio, which includes Finance, Commercial Tax, Planning and Development, and Parliamentary Affairs. The portfolio is crucial for managing the state's fiscal health, tax policies, budget planning, and legislative functions. Chamra Linda, a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was assigned the Department of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Minorities. This department is responsible for implementing policies and welfare programs for the socially and economically disadvantaged communities in the state.
Sanjay Prasad Yadav, from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), was appointed the Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, and Skill Development. His department will handle workforce management, employment generation, labor welfare, and vocational training programs. Irfan Ansari, a Congress leader, was given charge of the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department, along with the Food, Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs, and Disaster Management Department. His responsibilities cover healthcare services, public distribution systems, consumer protection, and disaster management.
Deepak Biruwa, also from JMM, has been assigned the Revenue, Registration, and Land Reforms (excluding Registration), and the Transport Department. His role includes overseeing land reforms, managing state revenue, and ensuring the development and regulation of the state's transport system. Deepika Pandey Singh, a Congress member, has been appointed to the Rural Development, Rural Works, and Panchayati Raj Department. She will focus on rural development projects, rural infrastructure, and strengthening local governance through Panchayati Raj institutions.
While several departments have been assigned to other ministers, key areas like road construction, building construction, and administrative reforms have been kept under the direct control of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This reshuffle follows the swearing-in of 11 MLAs as ministers in Soren's government. The distribution of portfolios aims to streamline governance and focus on the developmental priorities of the state.
