The highly anticipated premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, turned tragic when a stampede-like situation erupted, leading to the death of a 39-year-old woman and leaving her two children critically injured. The chaos unfolded when Allu Arjun, the movie star, made a surprise appearance at the event, drawing an enormous crowd of fans.
Revathi (39), a resident of Dilsukhnagar, attended the premiere with her husband Bhaskar and their children, Sri Tej (9) and Sanvika (7). The family arrived at the Sandhya 70mm Theatre on RTC Cross Roads to witness the grand premiere. However, excitement turned to tragedy when fans surged forward to glimpse Allu Arjun as he entered the venue around 10:30 PM.
Caught in the frenzy, Revathi and her son Sri Tej collapsed. They were rushed to Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital in Vidyanagar by police officers. Unfortunately, Revathi was declared dead on arrival, and her son, in critical condition, was shifted to KIMS Hospital in Begumpet. Her body was later sent to Gandhi Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The situation at the theatre quickly spiraled out of control, with the police struggling to manage the swelling crowd. Despite heavy security, the rush to see Allu Arjun caused severe congestion, creating a stampede-like atmosphere.
After the screening, Allu Arjun was escorted out under tight security. Briefly addressing the crowd, he waved from the sunroof of his vehicle and urged fans to clear the road for traffic.
