A violent attack at a Lalon fair in Paninala, Krishnanagar, on Monday left a newlywed couple critically injured. The victims, Subhajit Ghosh and his wife Aditi Ghosh, were assaulted by Tapas Pramanik, who used a sharp weapon to inflict multiple injuries. The attack took place in a crowded area of the fair, causing panic among attendees.
According to witnesses, Aditi was attacked first, followed by Subhajit when he tried to defend her. Bystanders eventually overpowered Tapas and handed him over to the police. Authorities have confirmed that Tapas was detained on the spot and that the weapon used in the attack has been seized for forensic examination.

Officials are questioning Tapas to gather more information about the motive behind the attack. Statements from witnesses are also being collected as part of the investigation.
The injured couple was initially taken to Shaktinagar District Hospital. Hospital sources have confirmed that both victims remain in critical condition, with medical teams closely monitoring their progress.
