Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
On Monday, a burst water pipeline at Salkia Barrage in Howrah disrupted both local water supply and traffic flow. The incident occurred while the Howrah Municipal Corporation was laying a new pipeline for the drinking water system. The burst caused significant water accumulation on the road, damaging the surface and creating a large pit in the middle of the road. The flooding resulted in the road becoming impassable for vehicles, leading to traffic disruptions in the area.
The waterlogged road caused severe traffic congestion, particularly affecting the movement of vehicles during the morning rush hour. The accumulation of water created hazardous conditions for commuters, who were forced to slow down or find alternative routes. Due to the damage caused by the burst, the road remained blocked, with vehicles unable to pass through certain sections. As a result, commuters experienced delays and were unable to use the usual route for their daily travel.
In response to the situation, the Howrah Municipal Corporation announced that repair work would begin immediately. The pipeline repairs were scheduled to start on Monday night, with road repairs to follow on Tuesday. Authorities emphasized that the restoration efforts aim to repair both the pipeline and the road as quickly as possible. The corporation is working to restore normal water supply and traffic flow to minimize disruptions for local residents and commuters.
