Two fatal road accidents in West Bengal have resulted in two deaths and several injuries, leading to ongoing investigations. The first accident occurred on National Highway 31 in Dhupguri, near the Khalaigram area, around 11 PM on the night of the incident. A truck, traveling at high speed, collided with a motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist, Prakash Sutra Dhar, to die at the scene. After the collision, the truck driver failed to stop and continued driving, running over two workers who were on the footpath. The workers, identified as Narayan Sarkar and Anand Roy, were immediately taken to the Dhupguri Sub-Divisional Hospital. Sarkar’s injuries were severe, and he was transferred to the Jalpaiguri Super Speciality Hospital for further treatment. Roy was treated for his injuries and was later discharged.
Prakash Sutra Dhar, the motorcyclist, was a resident of Falakata Mill Road. Narayan Sarkar and Anand Roy both worked at a plywood factory in the Khalaigram area. The truck driver, who fled the scene, has not been identified, but local authorities are working to track him down. Police have collected evidence from the accident site, including footage from nearby CCTV cameras, to help identify the truck and driver involved.
The second incident occurred in Bankura, near Raybaghini on State Highway 2 in the Kotulpur police station area. Saheb Majhi, a resident of Bajitpur in the Indas police station area, was traveling with his friend, Sumanta Majhi, on a motorcycle. According to reports, as the motorcycle reached the Raybaghini area, it collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction. The crash caused both individuals to fall onto the road. Saheb Majhi suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Kotulpur Rural Hospital, where he was declared dead. Sumanta Majhi, who was also injured, was treated at the hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Saheb Majhi and Sumanta Majhi were on their way to Kotulpur for business purposes at the time of the accident. The truck involved in the crash fled the scene, and the police are now attempting to identify the vehicle and its driver. Authorities have collected physical evidence from the site and are seeking eyewitness testimony to help in the investigation.
