TMC leader in Darjeeling found with deadly Californium chemical, major security breach uncovered

A rare and radioactive chemical, Californium, was discovered in the home of Francis Ekka, a leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party in Naksalbari, Darjeeling. The chemical, valued at 17 crore rupees per gram, is used in nuclear reactors and scientific research. The chemical was recovered during a joint operation by the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday. Along with Californium, authorities found documents reportedly connected to the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Francis Ekka, a known political figure, is under investigation in connection with the discovery. The police are questioning him at the Mirik police station, and the investigation is focused on how the chemical came into his possession.
