Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
On Wednesday morning, a dead fetus wrapped in plastic was discovered in a drain in the Thakurpara area of Bishnupur, Bankura. Local residents of Ward 3 first noticed the object in the drain, but it was only upon further inspection that they identified it as a fetus. The discovery was immediately reported to the Bishnupur police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the fetus from the drain water.
Doctors who examined the fetus estimated its age to be about four months. The police have initiated an investigation to determine how the fetus ended up in the drain. As part of the investigation, authorities are examining whether the fetus was abandoned following an illegal abortion. They are also looking into nearby hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics to check if any illegal activities or medical procedures were involved.
The police have secured the area and are collecting evidence. They are also questioning local residents to gather more information about the situation. No arrests have been made so far, and the identity of the fetus remains unknown. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances of how the fetus came to be discarded in the drain. The case is ongoing.
