Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Sujoykrishna Bhadra, a key accused in the ongoing recruitment corruption case, was scheduled to appear in court today after a production warrant was granted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). However, his appearance was delayed as jail authorities informed the court that he was experiencing chest pain and could not be presented in person. The authorities reported, "He has developed chest pain again," and as a result, he was unable to attend the hearing.
Bhadra, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) earlier in connection with the recruitment scam, has been facing serious health issues during his detention. He was admitted to SSKM Hospital for medical treatment and underwent bypass surgery while in custody. Despite his ongoing health challenges, the CBI filed for a production warrant in relation to the recruitment scam investigation, which involves alleged illegal hiring practices in various government departments. The CBI has expressed the need to take him into their custody for further questioning.
The court granted the CBI’s request for a production warrant, despite Bhadra's health condition. The warrant is considered essential for the investigation, as Bhadra’s testimony is viewed as a critical element in the case. In the same legal proceedings, Shantanu, another accused in the recruitment scam, was granted bail by the Kolkata High Court today.
