On Sunday night, a major drug seizure took place in Joynagar, West Bengal, when the police recovered 385 kilograms of marijuana from the residence of Raju Laskar. The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Baruipur district police and the Joynagar police station. Police sources confirmed that the drugs were found at Laskar’s home during the raid. However, upon their arrival, Laskar had already fled the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure, and police are actively searching for Laskar.
Baruipur's SDPO, Atish Biswas, stated, “If we catch Raju, we will also catch the others in the network.” Authorities have not provided further information on the specifics of Laskar’s involvement in the drug trade or whether any other individuals are being investigated in this case. The seized marijuana is being processed by law enforcement for further investigation.
This operation follows a separate drug bust on Friday night, when Baruipur police intercepted a vehicle traveling from Odisha to Canning. In that operation, police seized 120 kilograms of marijuana and arrested four individuals. The arrested suspects were identified, and the vehicle was searched, leading to the discovery of the drugs. Police have not disclosed whether there is any connection between the two operations, but investigations are ongoing.
