Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Governor CV Ananda Bose has initiated a high-level investigative committee to examine the origins and purpose of the statue of himself that was recently unveiled at the Raj Bhavan. According to the Governor’s office, the Raj Bhavan has no knowledge of who created the statue or the specific reasons behind its presentation. The Governor has directed the formation of the committee to investigate the matter thoroughly and uncover the full details.
Sources confirmed that the statue was presented to the Governor by the Indian Museum. However, there has been no information provided regarding the identity of the sculptor or the exact motivations for the gift. The Raj Bhavan clarified that it is not unusual for artists to present their works to the Governor, including portraits and sculptures. Despite this, the fact that the Governor himself unveiled the statue has raised several questions. The Raj Bhavan stated, "Many artists gift their artworks to the Honorable Governor, and similarly, a creative sculptor made a statue of the Governor and presented it as a gift."
The formation of the inquiry committee by Governor Bose aims to investigate the individuals or organizations responsible for commissioning the statue, the intent behind its presentation, and the process through which it reached the Raj Bhavan. The investigation will also look into whether there was any ulterior motive behind the statue being gifted and whether the gesture was in line with proper protocol. The Governor's office has emphasized that the inquiry will ensure transparency and provide answers regarding the origins of the statue, addressing any concerns surrounding the matter.
