Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
On Monday morning, a 25,000-volt electric wire fell onto the Teba Ga Express, which was traveling from Balurghat to Kolkata. The incident occurred near Polanpur, located in the Balurghat block, shortly before the train reached Rampur station. At approximately 6:00 AM, the wire snapped as the train passed Mallikpur station, causing the train to stop immediately. Railway personnel were notified of the incident, and a team arrived at the scene to begin repairs.
There were no reported injuries or damage to the train or passengers. Railway authorities confirmed that the wire fell after a section of it connected to the power source was severed. A replacement engine was dispatched from Malda to the site of the incident. After an approximately three-hour delay, the new engine arrived, and the train resumed its journey toward Kolkata.
The disruption caused delays for passengers, who were left waiting at various stations, including Rampur. The incident led to a temporary halt in services on that section of the railway line. Repair work on the damaged electric wire began promptly. Railway officials are investigating the cause of the wire’s breakage to determine whether there were any technical issues involved.
