In a significant breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police arrested two individuals associated with an inter-state arms smuggling racket during a raid near the Old Kalyaneswari Temple in the Kulti Police Station area, Asansol, on November 23.
The arrested suspects, identified as Minarul Islam (33) and Safikul Mondal (37), both hail from Domkol in the Murshidabad district. Acting on credible intelligence, the STF team conducted the raid and successfully apprehended the duo, who were allegedly transporting a large consignment of illegal firearms and ammunition.
During the search operation, the following items were recovered and seized from the accused:
A police case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Kulti Police Station. Authorities believe that the duo are key members of an organized inter-state arms smuggling network and were possibly en route to deliver the illegal weapons to their intended recipients.
