Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of the state for the INDIA bloc’s decisive performance in the assembly elections on Saturday. The coalition, which includes the JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPIM(L) Liberation, is heading for a resounding victory, securing 31 seats and leading in 24 others.
Soren himself emerged victorious from the Barhait constituency, defeating BJP candidate Gamliyel Hembrom by a significant margin of 39,791 votes. Speaking at a press conference, the chief minister said, “We have passed the exam of democracy in Jharkhand. We will now finalize our strategy for the state's governance post-election results.”
The INDIA bloc's performance reflects a strong mandate for the coalition’s policies and vision. Soren emphasized that the victory symbolizes the realization of the state’s aspirations, as encapsulated in the slogan ‘Abua Raj, Abua Sarkar’ (own state, own government). AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir further reaffirmed Soren’s leadership, stating, “Hemant Soren is the Chief Minister of Jharkhand and will continue to remain so.”
The INDIA bloc's success in Jharkhand comes as a critical boost for the alliance, underscoring its strength in regional politics and its ability to challenge the BJP in the state. Political analysts believe that this win cements Soren’s leadership and the bloc’s influence in Jharkhand.
As the final results are tallied, the coalition is preparing to outline its governance priorities, focusing on development, social justice, and strengthening state autonomy.
