Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Former BJP MP Sanghamitra Maurya’s home in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, witnessed a shocking theft by a trusted 15-year-old watchman who allegedly stole jewelry worth ₹6 lakh. The incident came to light when Maurya, the daughter of political heavyweight Swami Prasad Maurya, discovered fake jewelry in her locker during a routine check.
Sanghamitra’s house, located in the Vrindavan Yojna area, had been guarded by the watchman, Rajendra, for 15 years. The Maurya family trusted him deeply, even entrusting him with keys to the first floor of the residence. Rajendra reportedly stole the jewelry and replaced it with counterfeit pieces, leaving the family unaware for weeks.
The theft was discovered when Sanghamitra, preparing for a family event, checked the locker and noticed the jewelry’s design and color were different. Upon verification by a jeweler, it was confirmed that the items were fake. Shocked by the revelation, Sanghamitra lodged an FIR at the PGI police station.
Police investigations revealed that Rajendra had been acting unusually in recent days. He took leave, citing his daughter’s wedding, and did not return. His sudden departure raised suspicions, prompting the family to review the situation further.
The theft has raised concerns about the misuse of trust, particularly by long-term employees. The police are now investigating Rajendra’s whereabouts and his potential accomplices. CCTV footage and other evidence are being analyzed to trace him.
Sanghamitra Maurya, a former BJP MP from Badaun, is still associated with the party despite her father Swami Prasad Maurya’s frequent criticism of BJP. The incident has brought attention to the challenges of securing valuable items even within trusted circles.
