Dhirendra Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham, officially launched the 'Hindu Unity' foot march on November 21, 2024, with the goal of fostering Hindu unity and promoting the values of Sanatan Dharma. The march began at Bageshwar Dham, located in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, and will cover a total distance of 160 kilometers, culminating in Orchha on November 29, 2024. This nine-day journey will see Shastri walking approximately 20 kilometers each day, accompanied by thousands of devotees who have joined the march in support of its religious cause.
Congress MLA Jayvardhan Singh, the son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, is among the prominent figures participating in the march. Upon joining, Singh expressed his support for the cause, saying, "Hindus must unite, and this is a journey for Sanatan Dharma. We hold Bageshwar Dham in high regard, and Baba Bageshwar is leading this journey for Sanatan Dharma. This march is not for any political party, but for the unity of Hindus. We are devoted to Sanatan Dharma, and we will continue to be." Singh reached Bageshwar Dham on November 21, the day the march began, marking his active involvement in the initiative.
Shastri, in response to Singh’s participation, shared that the MLA’s commitment to Sanatan Dharma is deeply ingrained in his family traditions. He noted that Jayvardhan Singh’s household is filled with religious symbols, including the worship of Thakurji and Balaji. Shastri emphasized that Singh’s participation in the march reflects his personal devotion to the values of Sanatan Dharma. He also reiterated that the purpose of the march is to unite Hindus under the banner of Sanatan Dharma, rather than to advance any political agenda or secure votes.
The 'Hindu Unity' march, which is taking place across multiple towns in Madhya Pradesh, is seen as a significant religious undertaking aimed at strengthening the Hindu community and advocating for the principles of Sanatan Dharma. In addition to Shastri and Singh, numerous BJP leaders and thousands of devotees have joined the march. The journey is structured to pass through several key towns, offering an opportunity for devotees to participate in religious discussions, prayers, and processions.
Shastri, who is known for his influence as a religious leader, has emphasized that the march is a spiritual effort to restore and promote the traditional values of Sanatan Dharma. He stated that the focus of the march is on uniting Hindus from all walks of life and is not associated with any specific political ideology. Participants are encouraged to reflect on the significance of Hindu unity and the importance of upholding the values of Sanatan Dharma in their daily lives. The march will conclude in Orchha, a historical town known for its temples and religious significance, on November 29.
