The Bihar government has announced the resumption of teacher transfers, but only under special circumstances. The Education Department confirmed that the online application process for transfers will reopen on the e-Education Fund portal from December 1, 2024, and will remain open until December 15. Teachers facing urgent personal or family situations, such as health problems or long-distance separation from their families, will be eligible to apply for transfers during this period.
The Education Department clarified that all previous transfer applications submitted via the e-Education Fund portal have been canceled. These applications will no longer be considered, and teachers who had previously applied for a transfer must submit fresh applications through the portal within the new application window. Only applications from teachers in exceptional circumstances, including family health emergencies or personal issues requiring relocation, will be considered.
The government has outlined specific criteria for transfer eligibility. Teachers who are facing long-term separation from their families or are dealing with serious health issues in their households are encouraged to apply for transfers closer to their homes. Additionally, teachers whose spouses are in government service in another district or sub-division can also apply for transfers to schools near their spouse’s posting.
The decision to reopen the transfer process comes after multiple requests from teachers citing personal hardships. The new application window, which will be open for 15 days, allows teachers to submit their applications based on these specific needs. The Education Department has emphasized that only teachers who meet these strict conditions will be considered for transfers, ensuring that the process is used for genuine cases of hardship.
Transfers will be processed based on the availability of vacancies and the eligibility of applicants. Teachers are required to submit their applications online through the e-Education Fund portal during the specified period, with no extensions planned for the application deadline.
