The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned former Inspector-in-Charge Kaushik Sarkar, who was posted at Ghola police station during the murder and rape of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. His transfer and duties during the time of the incident are also under scrutiny as part of the CBI's ongoing probe.
In a special court, statements of officers involved in the preliminary investigation have commenced. On Tuesday, the videographer who documented the crime scene provided his testimony. The victim’s body was found on the morning of August 9 in a seminar hall located on the hospital premises. Allegations have emerged that the crime scene was not properly secured, allowing unauthorized individuals to access the area, potentially leading to tampering with crucial evidence.
Further investigative actions wiill be planned, including collecting additional information and cross-verifying evidence from the crime scene. Statements from more officers and witnesses are expected to shed light on the handling of the case during its initial stages. Key areas of investigation include securing evidence, the chain of custody, and procedural adherence at the crime scene.
