A tragic double murder occurred in the Bamheta area of Ghaziabad when Zeeshan, a 30-year-old man, allegedly strangled his sister-in-law Parveen (36) and her three-month-old daughter Afia to death while a three-year-old girl, Anadia, was present in the house. After committing the crime, Zeeshan reportedly fled the scene on foot carrying a suitcase. The incident took place at the rented house of Burhan, Zeeshan’s elder brother, who works in a factory located in the Bulandshahr Road industrial area.
According to police sources, Burhan had gone to work that morning, while his two older children had left for school. At the time of the incident, Zeeshan, Parveen, and her children, including Anadia and the infant Afia, were in the house. It was around 10:30 AM when neighbors heard Anadia running out of the house, visibly terrified. Shortly after, they saw Zeeshan leave the house in a hurry with a suitcase in his hand. Concerned, the neighbors went inside and discovered Parveen and Afia lying lifeless in the bedroom.
Upon examining the bodies, authorities found that Parveen had been strangled with a scarf. A wooden plank was found near her body, which police believe was used to strike her on the head before the strangulation. The infant Afia was found lying on the bed, showing no signs of life. Both victims appeared to have died from strangulation. Neighbors confirmed they had not heard any fighting or raised voices from the house prior to discovering the crime scene. The police believe that the attack happened shortly after Burhan and his children left for the day.
Zeeshan had been staying with Burhan’s family for about two weeks after arriving from his hometown in Bihar. He had recently planned to leave for Qatar for work, with his flight scheduled for December 9. However, due to two canceled flights, he had stayed back. Burhan, speaking to authorities, stated that he was unaware of any issues between himself and his brother, Zeeshan, and there had been no apparent conflict within the family. Burhan also expressed confusion, stating, "I don’t know why he did this. There was no quarrel between us."
Anadia, the three-year-old daughter of Burhan, was the only witness to the horrific crime. She told police officers that she saw Zeeshan hit her mother on the head with a wooden plank and then strangle her with a scarf. Frightened, Anadia fled the room and ran outside. Police later confirmed that she had not witnessed any further details of the incident. Her statement, however, has been crucial in advancing the investigation.
Following the murders, police launched a manhunt to find Zeeshan. Authorities tracked his movements to a nearby railway station, where he was last seen, but as of now, Zeeshan remains at large. Police have issued a lookout notice for him and are continuing to investigate any leads. Burhan has publicly called for Zeeshan's immediate arrest and said he hoped for "severe punishment" for his brother.
The motive for the murder remains unclear. While police have not ruled out any potential motives, there are no signs of a struggle between Parveen and Zeeshan prior to the crime. Authorities are also looking into the possibility of attempted sexual assault, as it remains an open line of investigation. Zeeshan’s prior behavior and his stay with the family for nearly two weeks have been scrutinized as part of the ongoing probe.
The police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help them locate Zeeshan. As the investigation continues, Burhan remains in shock, unable to comprehend why his brother would commit such a violent act against his family. Authorities are hoping that the capture of Zeeshan will bring clarity to the situation and allow them to piece together the events leading up to the murders.
