TMC MLA’s car crash kills two, three hospitalized in Shibpur

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday night in Shibpur, South 24 Parganas, when a car crashed into a stationary trailer, killing two individuals and leaving three others seriously injured. The incident took place around 1 AM on Forser Road. The vehicle involved was owned by Giyasuddin Mollah, the Trinamool MLA from Magrahat West, but it was being driven by his 25-year-old driver, Mohammad Mostak Khan, a resident of Kolkata’s Watgunge area. Khan was accompanied by four relatives, who were returning from Bankra at the time of the accident.

According to the police, the car was traveling at high speed when it lost control and struck the trailer. The front portion of the car got wedged behind the trailer while the rear of the vehicle was violently thrown forward. The force of the crash caused severe damage to the car, which was almost completely destroyed. Local residents, hearing the loud crash, rushed to the scene, and emergency services were immediately alerted. Police from Shibpur arrived at the location shortly after and extricated the five passengers from the wreckage.

The two individuals who died at the scene were identified as passengers in the car, while the remaining three, who sustained serious injuries, were taken to a nearby hospital. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, and medical teams are working to stabilize them. The police have confirmed that the MLA was not present in the vehicle at the time of the crash, as initially suspected, and that the investigation is focusing on the speed of the vehicle and potential loss of control.

Shibpur police have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. They have secured the vehicle and the trailer for forensic examination. The police are also reviewing road conditions and any possible mechanical issues with the car. Authorities have not yet ruled out the possibility that speeding contributed to the fatal crash.
