In a shocking development, Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested Police Inspector Ian Reddy for allegedly conspiring to infect the Leader of Opposition, R. Ashok, with HIV-infected blood. Reddy, who was posted at Hebbagodi Police Station, is accused of working with BJP MLA Muniratna Naidu to carry out this sinister plot.
According to reports, the conspiracy centered around an attempt to use HIV-infected blood to harm R. Ashok, who has been a prominent figure in Karnataka politics. The case gained traction after it was revealed that the police officer had close ties with the controversial BJP MLA, Muniratna, who represents the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency. Reddy's long tenure in areas falling under Muniratna’s jurisdiction, such as Peenya, Rajagopalnagar, and Yashwantpur, helped establish a connection between the two, leading the SIT to expand its investigation into the matter.
The SIT’s probe into Reddy’s role intensified after his name surfaced during questioning of Muniratna’s associates. This investigation follows previous allegations against Muniratna, including claims from a rape case where the MLA was accused of using an HIV-infected woman to blackmail and target his political opponents.
A former associate of Muniratna, Velu Nayakar, has claimed that he witnessed a plot involving Police Inspector Reddy and the MLA to deceive a young man and then try to inject R. Ashok with HIV-infected blood. Nayakar, who was once close to Muniratna, has since distanced himself from the MLA.
Muniratna himself has been a controversial figure, with multiple allegations of serious crimes, including a rape case registered against him at Kaggaliapura police station. The FIR includes serious charges like sexual assault, intimidation, and conspiracy. The rape victim has accused Muniratna of repeatedly raping her and using her to trap another man, the husband of a former councilor.
This recent arrest adds another layer of complexity to Muniratna’s already tarnished reputation, which includes previous allegations of caste-based discrimination and threats.
As investigations continue, the involvement of influential figures like Muniratna in such serious conspiracies has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Karnataka, highlighting the lengths some individuals may go to in pursuit of power.
