Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
A horrifying incident unfolded at Howrah's Shalimar Station on Thursday night, where a businessman was brutally attacked following a dispute over parking fees. The victim, identified as Mumbai-based businessman Bani Amin Raj, was left with serious head injuries, requiring six stitches. His elder son was also beaten, and his smartphone and wallet were snatched during the altercation.
The family, originally from South 24 Parganas, was traveling back to Mumbai via the Gnaneshwari Express at 8 PM. They had arrived at the station and unloaded their luggage in the parking area when the situation escalated. According to reports, a group of 10-15 armed miscreants demanded an exorbitant amount as a parking fee. When the family resisted, the situation turned violent.
The attackers allegedly used an iron rod to crack Bani Amin's head and assaulted his elder son. The injured were rushed to the South Howrah State General Hospital for treatment. A formal complaint has been filed at the B Garden police station, and Howrah City Police has initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
This is not the first instance of violence in the Shalimar station area. Just a few days ago, clashes in the vicinity left six people injured. Another incident in June saw a violent altercation between two groups, raising serious concerns about the safety and security of passengers at the station.
