A Children’s Day celebration at Palli Vikash Panchayat High School in Kuibahal took a devastating turn when headmaster Parshuram Das collapsed and died while addressing the morning assembly. Das, 57, a native of Jajpur, had been serving the school in Turekela block for two decades and was delivering a heartfelt speech during the celebration when tragedy struck.
Witnesses recount that Das had just concluded his address and began singing when he appeared uncomfortable and suddenly fell unconscious. "He was in the middle of a song when he seemed uneasy and collapsed," shared a student who witnessed the heartbreaking moment.
The school staff immediately rushed Das to Kantabanji hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The hospital authorities alerted the Kantabanji police, who have since launched an investigation into the incident. "We are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death," said a police officer involved in the case.
Das was widely respected within the school and the surrounding community, having dedicated two decades of his life to the education and well-being of students. Known for his warm personality and unwavering commitment, Das's sudden passing has left everyone in deep shock and sorrow.
Grieving teachers and students described Das as a guiding force in their lives. "He was dear to all of us," shared a teacher, tearfully recalling his invaluable contributions to the school.
Children’s Day, typically a joyful occasion celebrating the spirit of childhood and education, became a day of mourning for the Palli Vikash Panchayat High School. A memorial assembly is planned to honor Das’s legacy, reflecting the deep impact he had on the lives of those who knew him.
