A school bus met with an accident on Thursday in the Panchasayar area near Peerless Hospital in Kolkata. Thankfully, there were no students on board at the time, averting a potential tragedy. According to eyewitnesses, the bus struck a cyclist before going out of control, eventually crashing through a wall and into a nearby house. The bus belongs to the Future Foundation School.
The accident occurred just in front of Peerless Hospital, where the injured cyclist was immediately taken for medical treatment. Witnesses at the scene described a frightening sequence of events. "The bus hit the cyclist, and then it seemed to veer off course and rammed into the wall of a house," an eyewitness said.
The cyclist is reported to be seriously injured, though further details about his condition are pending. Doctors at Peerless Hospital are currently attending to him, and his family has been informed. Residents and shopkeepers who witnessed the accident were quick to respond, calling emergency services and trying to assist the injured man until medical help arrived.
While no students were on board, the driver sustained minor injuries from the impact. Police arrived promptly and have cordoned off the area for further investigation. The bus has since been removed from the site, though the damage to the house’s wall is evident, with debris scattered on the scene.
