Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
In a moment of pride for her family and community, Shifali Jamwal, daughter of a retired Indian Army officer, was crowned Mrs Universe America 2024 at a pageant held by AmPowering.org in Renton, Washington. Shifali, who hails from Jammu and is now based in Seattle, captivated the audience and judges with her dedication to environmental conservation and her passion for community service.
Growing up in a military family, Shifali developed a sense of resilience and commitment early on. “My parents always approached challenges with determination, and this upbringing has been the foundation of my own journey,” she said, recalling her roots. Her family background has greatly influenced her drive to create positive change, especially in the realm of environmental sustainability.
Professionally, Shifali works as a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Esper.io, a technology company based in Seattle. Beyond her corporate role, she has dedicated her life to environmental conservation, describing herself as a "child of the planet" and co-founding a nonprofit organization, Live2Serve. Live2Serve focuses on protecting the environment and supporting vulnerable communities, including children and animals. “We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children,” Shifali emphasized, underscoring her mission to leave a better planet for future generations.
At the pageant, Shifali dazzled in a green lehenga adorned with butterflies, flowers, and peacocks—symbols of nature and vitality. Her outfit, along with her compelling message on sustainability, deeply resonated with the audience and judges alike. She shared her vision of a world where clean air, drinkable water, and a balanced ecosystem are accessible to all.
Shifali, a mother to a 4-year-old son, aims to ensure that future generations grow up in a thriving environment. Her Mrs Universe America title grants her a larger platform to advocate for her causes, a mission she plans to take forward at the Mrs Universe pageant in the Philippines next year. “This title allows me to raise greater awareness about the urgent need for environmental consciousness,” she remarked. “Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure that our children inherit a world that is not just livable but thriving.”
With her new role as Mrs Universe America, Shifali is more determined than ever to inspire others to join her journey towards a sustainable and harmonious world.
