Biometric attendance made mandatory for all Nabanna staff

The Finance Department has made biometric attendance the sole valid method for recording attendance for all employees working at Nabanna. In a recent order issued by the department's Audit Branch, it was clarified that only those employees newly transferred, promoted, or assigned to Group H at Nabanna would be temporarily allowed to mark attendance manually. This is applicable only until they are fully incorporated into their designated cells or branches or added to the stenographers’ reserve pool.

Biometric attendance, introduced in May 2023, replaced the manual attendance system to streamline employee attendance tracking across the department. This shift was made to ensure uniformity and accuracy in attendance records. Despite this change, the department recently observed cases of employees bypassing the biometric system and marking attendance manually, creating inconsistencies in attendance data.

To address these issues, the Finance Department has instructed that all newly-joined employees in Nabanna, including those transferred or promoted, must register in the biometric system on their first day. The Audit Branch emphasized that these employees should promptly provide their biometric data to Group H at Nabanna, where attendance matters are managed, to avoid any disruptions in monthly attendance reports.

Additionally, employees leaving the Finance Department, whether due to transfer or promotion, must notify Group H of their release. This will allow Group H to delete their records from the biometric attendance system, ensuring that records remain up-to-date.

To support these attendance processes, the Finance Department has appointed Saumitra Biswas, a senior software developer, to handle the incorporation and deletion of biometric records for newly joined and outgoing employees. Biswas will ensure that new employees are registered in the biometric system promptly and that records of departing employees are removed effectively.
