Bulldozer drive intensifies in Delhi-NCR: Haryana, Gurugram target illegal constructions, encroachers fined

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) has intensified its anti-encroachment efforts in Faridabad, launching a robust drive against illegal constructions and encroachments across multiple sectors of the city. On Tuesday, HSVP demolished illegally constructed shops in Sector-48's green belt using bulldozers. These shops had been built without authorization, occupying public land intended for environmental protection. The demolitions were carried out to restore the green belt to its original state. The operation also targeted other illegal structures in the vicinity, including those in the Sector-48 Housing Board Colony, located in front of the SGM. SDO Rajendra confirmed that the drive against illegal constructions would continue throughout the city to maintain the integrity of public spaces.

The demolition drive in Faridabad is part of a larger effort by local authorities to clear up unauthorized constructions across Haryana. The Haryana Urban Development Authority has been actively removing encroachments from public areas and green belts. The action is being taken under the broader objective to maintain planned urban growth and enforce land use regulations across the state. Faridabad has witnessed similar actions in recent months, as authorities continue to clear up illegal structures across sectors and public spaces.

In neighboring Gurugram, a similar crackdown was launched by the Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on Monday, targeting illegal constructions in the Sakatpur area. The GMDA Enforcement Team demolished a 60-meter-long boundary wall and columns that were illegally constructed. The team also removed other unauthorized encroachments along key areas such as the SPR and Golf Course Extension. These actions were part of a broader campaign to remove illegal structures built without approval. GMDA officials have indicated that additional demolitions are planned in other areas of the city, especially in sectors known for unauthorized developments.

In addition to these demolitions, the Town and Country Planning Department (DTE) has moved to recover the costs associated with these actions, particularly in the illegally developed colonies of New Gurugram. The department has issued notices to 49 landowners, instructing them to pay fees ranging from Rs.30,000 to Rs.3,000 within three weeks. This fee is intended to cover the costs incurred during the demolition of illegal structures. The action has affected landowners in several villages, including Mumtazpur, Narhera, Inchhapuri, and Bhondsi, where illegal colonies have been identified and dismantled.

DTE officials have clarified that if landowners fail to comply with the payment instructions within the stipulated time, the revenue department will take further steps to recover the costs. These steps may include auctioning the land or registered vehicles of non-compliant landowners.
