Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh, who has gained widespread recognition for her roles in Bhojpuri cinema and her appearance on Bigg Boss OTT 1, became the target of a serious threat when she received threatening phone calls on the night of November 11. The caller demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh and warned that her life would be in danger if the money was not paid within two days. The threat was reportedly made over two separate phone calls, with both coming from different numbers, and the demands were identical. Singh immediately filed an FIR at a police station in Patna, seeking legal protection and action against the perpetrator.
Patna police have confirmed the incident and are currently investigating the matter. Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj, the officer-in-charge of the local police station, stated, “The situation is being investigated. The caller will soon be recognised.” Authorities are working to trace the phone numbers used in the threat and are examining all available evidence, including call records, to identify the culprit. As of now, there have been no arrests, but the case is being treated as a serious extortion threat and is being prioritized by local law enforcement.
Akshara Singh is a well-established name in the Bhojpuri film industry, having made her acting debut in 2010 with Satyamev Jayate opposite Ravi Kishan. Over the years, she has starred in numerous successful films, including Saugandh Ganga Maiya Ke, Tabadla, Sarkar Raj, Love Marriage, and Maa Tujhe Salaam. She has worked alongside some of the biggest stars in Bhojpuri cinema, such as Khesari Lal Yadav, Pawan Singh, and Dinesh Lal Yadav. Singh has earned a reputation as one of the highest-paid actresses in the Bhojpuri industry, with a strong fan base across India and abroad.
In addition to her acting career, Akshara Singh is also a talented singer. Her song Mere Dubale Piya has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube, further solidifying her popularity. Beyond entertainment, Singh has shown interest in politics, having campaigned for Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj initiative. She has also expressed her views on social issues and frequently engages with her large following on social media, where she has over 6.5 million followers on Instagram.
The extortion threat against Singh adds her to a growing list of high-profile celebrities who have faced similar situations. Bollywood actors such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and others have previously received death threats and ransom demands from criminal elements. These threats are part of a disturbing trend that has raised concerns about the safety of public figures in India. In many cases, criminals use such threats to extort money or gain attention, and local law enforcement agencies are working to address the issue. The rise in threats targeting celebrities has prompted calls for stronger measures to protect individuals in the entertainment industry. Authorities are focused on ensuring the safety of Akshara Singh, as well as other celebrities who may be vulnerable to similar threats.
