Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A fatal road accident occurred late Sunday night near the Naryana Bridge on the Sonoh-Khaira main road in Jamui district, Bihar, resulting in the deaths of two young men and leaving three others critically injured. The incident took place around 11:30 PM when five young men, all from the same district, were returning from a birthday party. The two deceased have been identified as Ujjwal Kumar alias Raunak and Gaurav Kumar, both residents of Nawadiha village in Khaira block.
The group of young men was traveling on separate motorcycles. After celebrating Raunak's birthday, they were heading to Bandra village to drop off their friend, Anshu Kumar. As they neared Naryana Bridge, a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction swerved into their path. According to eyewitnesses, the pickup truck caused the motorcyclists to lose control, and their vehicles veered off the road. The motorcycles collided with the road railing before plummeting into a deep pit. The violent crash resulted in the immediate deaths of Raunak and Gaurav.
In addition to Anshu Kumar, who sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a private nursing home in Jamui, Sujay Kumar and Shivam Kumar, both from Khaira village, were also seriously injured. They were transported to the same private facility for treatment. Authorities confirmed that all three are in critical condition, with Anshu reported to have suffered head injuries. Their treatment is ongoing, and their conditions are being closely monitored.
The police were immediately alerted and arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident. The bodies of Raunak and Gaurav were recovered from the crash site and transported to the Sadar Hospital in Jamui for post-mortem examination. Local police officials are gathering testimonies from eyewitnesses and inspecting the road for any additional factors that may have contributed to the crash. While no immediate foul play has been suspected, a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
The families of the deceased, along with villagers from Nawadiha, are in shock following the tragedy. Grieving relatives of Raunak and Gaurav have been seen at the hospital, where the post-mortem is taking place. In the wake of this devastating accident, local authorities have urged the public to exercise caution, particularly around high-traffic areas like Naryana Bridge, which has been the site of numerous accidents in the past.
