Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
A four-month-old infant lost his life in a fire early Monday morning in the Mahadalit Tola of Harikishunpur village, Buxar district. The fire reportedly originated from a short circuit and completely destroyed the family’s belongings, valued in lakhs. The incident occurred within the industrial police station area, with local authorities investigating the cause.
According to initial reports, Mutton Ram, also known as Sita Ram and a resident of Mahadalit Tola, had left home early to go to work. His wife, Kanchan Devi, placed their four-month-old baby to sleep in a room before starting to cook in the courtyard. During this time, an apparent short circuit reportedly sparked a fire that spread rapidly within the room where the infant was resting.
Witnesses stated that the flames engulfed the room quickly, leading to the infant’s death and significant property loss. The fire reportedly damaged all items in the room, with estimates of losses reaching several lakhs of rupees. Villagers reported that by the time Kanchan Devi noticed the fire, it was already too late to save the child or prevent damage to the belongings inside the room. Local residents gathered after the incident, expressing their condolences. Authorities confirmed the family’s economic challenges and are evaluating support options
